Tottenham winger Bale re-iterates continental ambition

Gareth Bale has again revealed that he would one day like to play abroad, the Daily Mail has reported, only days after Bale’s former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Luka Modric called for the Wales international to join him at Real Madrid.

Tottenham Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas hit back at Modric, advising him to focus on life in La Liga and stay out of affairs at White Hart Lane, but Bale has once again admitted he would like to experience football in another country in the future. Bale added that having had a taste of Champions League football with Tottenham, he wants to play in the competition again.

He said: “It would be nice to experience other leagues and other cultures. I’ve always said I’m not afraid to go abroad. If the times comes and a team that’s right comes and in for me, then I’ll look at it seriously. I’ll see what happens.

Bale played for Tottenham on Saturday in the 3-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage, but the match was marred for the winger personally, first by the receipt of a yellow card for simulation, then by a hamstring injury which is expected to rule the 23-year-old out of action for two to three weeks.
