Villas-Boas planning quiet transfer window at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas has been speaking to Sky Sports about the January transfer window.

When asked whether he will be seeking funds for new signings from the club’s chairman, Daniel Levy, he said: “I don’t think we need it, to be fair.

Tottenham have won six of their last 10 league games and have moved up to fourth in the Premier League.

After losing several players during the summer, including the midfielders Rafael van der Vaart and Luka Modric, Villas-Boas brought players in who feature regularly for their respective countries to replace them, including Jan Vertonghen, Clint Dempsey, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Moussa Dembele.

Allied to that there are three key players currently sidelined through injury. Villas-Boas added: “We have three top players coming back from injury that played most of the games last season – Younes Kabul, Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Scott Parker.

These will be major additions to our squad and we are happy to continue with this squad.

Tottenham face Greek side Panathinaikos in the Europa League on Wednesday, needing a win to ensure that they progress to the knockout stages of the competition. They then travel to Goodison Park on Sunday to play Everton in the Premier League.
