Arsene Wenger is said to be eyeing a busy transfer window at Arsenal, with the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Luke Shaw and Pepe Reina among the targets of the Gunners boss, while Wenger is hopeful that the transfer of Robin van Persie to Manchester United paves the way for Luis Nani to make the return journey, the
Van Persie moved to Old Trafford in the summer after Wenger sanctioned the sale of the want-away forward to one of Arsenal’s Premier League rivals, with a personal intervention from Sir Alex Ferguson in the form of a phone call to Wenger decisive in swaying the Frenchman’s decision.
Wenger will however look for Ferguson to agree to sell Nani to Arsenal in return, calling on the same rationale that Ferguson used to convince Wenger to give the green light to the transfer of van Persie.
Nani has been out of favour at United after rejecting the offer of a new contract from the club, with Arsenal willing to pay United a fee of £12m for the Portugal international, whole Nani will command wages in the region of £90,000 per week.
And Nani could be just one of a number of recruits, with Wenger planning the sales of Marouane Chamakh and Andre Santos, and lining up replacements to be brought in next month.
