Wilshere pleads with Walcott to sign new Arsenal deal

Jack Wilshere publically called for Theo Walcott to sign a new Arsenal contract, urging the England forward to commit his future to the Gunners in the manner of Wilshere and a number of his teammates, the Daily Mail has reported.

Last week saw Wilshere, Carl Jenkinson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey and Kieran Gibbs put pen to paper on new contracts with Arsene Wenger’s side, but so far Walcott has held out despite his existing deal expiring at the end of this season. Wilshere admitted he hopes Walcott will follow the lead of his British colleagues and end the speculation surrounding his future.

Wilshere said: “Everybody at the club wants Theo to re-sign. But that is something he has to sort out, it is up to him and the club if they can reach an agreement and I hope they do.

We’re all great friends, the British boys, we all go out together, have meals together and sit together when we’re on the road, so hopefully he can follow us and sign.

Arsenal have crept up to fourth in the Premier League in recent weeks, picking up three consecutive wins to move from seventh, briefly sitting third before Chelsea’s emphatic victory over Aston Villa. A Mikel Arteta penalty was enough to give Arsenal three points against Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
