Cole targets more trophies after signing Chelsea contract

Ashley Cole wants to add to his medal collection after signing a new one-year extension to his Chelsea contract, the Daily Mail has reported.

Cole’s future at Stamford Bridge was in doubt as the defender’s existing deal was due to expire at the end of the season, with it initially being suggested that the Blues would not offer Cole an extension due to his age. Cole turned 32 in late December.

The likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Manchester United were linked with moves for the left-back once his contract ran down but Chelsea have had a change of heart and tied down the former Arsenal player for at least another 12 months.

With his immediate future now settled Cole is eager to add to his already-bulging trophy cabinet. In seven years at Chelsea, he has won the Champions League, the Premier League three times, the League Cup and four FA Cups, to go with the two league titles and three FA Cups won as an Arsenal player.

Cole, who should make his 300th appearance for Chelsea this season, said: “I have been able to fulfil nearly all my ambitions at Chelsea.

I have won the Champions League, the league, I have won FA Cups here but of course you don’t want to stop winning trophies and being at a big club, you are always fighting to win a trophy.
