Liverpool target Philippe Coutinho has said he wants to remain with current club Inter despite the prospect of a move to the Premier League, ESPN
The Reds have been linked with a £6m bid for the Brazilian, with some sources suggesting Brendan Rodgers originally hoped to have the transfer completed in time to field Coutinho against Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup this weekend. It is also thought that Inter have already turned down one offer for Coutinho from the Anfield club.
Liverpool and Inter have had further negotiations, however, meaning the possibility of a deal is not dead, but Coutinho has been clear about what he hopes will be the outcome. The 20-year-old said: “I don’t feel that I’m on my way out. I hope to stay at Inter. I feel the coach and the club trust me. Now I’m focused only on doing my best in my job and getting back on the field soon.”
Coutinho was given his Inter debut by former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, now at Chelsea, and has gone on to almost 50 games for the Serie A side. He also spent the season on loan at Espanyol last year, and has won a cap for the senior Brazil side.
