Clint Dempsey believes Tottenham Hotspur should not limit themselves to simply finishing in the top four of the Premier League and qualifying for the Champions League, as Sky
Tottenham are currently third, six points behind second-placed Manchester City having engineered a run of only one defeat in their last nine matches. Chelsea are fourth, a point behind their London rivals but with a game in hand.
Dempsey however does not feel Spurs should be concerned only with the teams below them but rather should have their eye on the few sides above, insisting that climbing up the league table must always be the aim for an ambitious club such as Tottenham.
“That’s the goal. Everybody wants to be pushing for great things and doing something special in their careers. We have the quality in our team and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t think that,” Dempsey said.
The former Fulham played added: “ We need to continue on this good run of form and get as many points as possible. You want to keep your feet on the ground and know there’s a lot of hard work to put in if you want to accomplish your goals.”
Dempsey joined Tottenham from the Cottagers in summer 2012, thus far making 25 appearances for the White Hart Lane side, scoring six goals.
