Patrice Evra believes it is possible that Manchester United can win a treble of the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League this season, the
United are seven points clear of defending league champions Manchester City at the top of the table and retain interest in the FA Cup, with a replay against West Ham United at Old Trafford to come this week. United are also still in contention in Europe, where they face a two-legged tie against the champions of Spain, managed by Jose Mourinho and boasting former United favourite Cristiano Ronaldo among their number.
Although Evra was reluctant to speak about the team’s ambitions in any concrete manner, he admitted that as long as United are involved in all three competitions there stands a good chance they can win them.
“Everything is possible,” Evra said. “If Manchester United win the Champions League, the Premier League and the FA Cup, I’ll say it’s the best team I’ve ever played in, because I’ve only ever won two trophies in a season before.”
United last won the treble in 1999, clinching the Premier League and the FA Cup and then winning the Champions League against Bayern Munich in the most dramatic fashion, scoring two injury time goals to seal the trophy.
