Pescara starlet puts Man Utd on alert

Juan Fernando Quintero, who plays his football in Serie A with Pescara has been speaking to the Daily Star about a possible move to the Premier League, and Manchester in particular.

The 19-year-old Colombian midfield playmaker has not only excited people on the east coast of Italy with a goal and two assists in fourteen games so far this season but his recent statement will be of interest to those in Manchester.

“It is clear that I would not say no to other good teams. I think big: Manchester, Milan, Juventus … I will decide with my family and Calleri, my agent.”

However he has strongly indicated that he may stay in Italy. “I like Inter better because it has many South Americans. And in Italy I’m happy.”

Quintero moved to Pescara from the Colombian Primera A team Envigado, beginning with the youth squad in 2005 before graduating to the senior side in 2009. In total he made 45 appearances for them in all competitions.

He briefly moved to Atletico Nacional on loan in 2012 but after only fifteen games with them he secured a €3 million move to Italy, and has played one friendly for the Colombian national side but is yet to make his competitive debut.

At nineteen years of age and standing only 5’7″ tall, what he lacks in physical size and experience he reportedly makes up for in skill. The left-footed playmaker has been likened to his countryman James Rodriguez of Porto.
