Tottenham are upping their efforts to land Schalke’s Lewis Holtby ahead of the transfer window closing on Thursday, reports The
The 22-year-old German international has been on Spurs’ radar throughout the transfer window, and a deal has already been made for the midfielder to move to White Hart Lane on a Bosman transfer in the summer.
However, manager Andre Villas-Boas is thought to have his mind set on bringing the player to North London earlier than originally planned, with Schalke thought to be asking for £1.5m recompense should the player make the switch this week as opposed to in July.
With Sandro out for the remainder of the season following surgery on his injured knee, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly already made two efforts in vain to accelerate Holtby’s arrival, but is determined to do what he can to ensure the deal is accelerated successfully.
Holtby has played 54 times for Schalke, and made his Germany debut in November 2010, in a friendly match against Sweden, and has won three caps in total thus far in his career.
