Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez is confident that he will leave a legacy at Stamford Bridge, should he depart the club in the summer, according to The
The Spanish boss doesn’t expect to be offered a new deal to stay in west London having experienced a mixed period in charge of the Champions League winners.
However he is adamant that he will leave the Blues in a better state than when he arrived at the club in November 2012.
Benitez said: “Analyse the squad at the beginning when we came here and the squad now. Put everything together, including the number of games, the injuries, and we are going in the right direction.”
“Still some people will expect more but the team is growing, getting better for this year and also for the future. I was coming here for a short time but I’m professional so I still think about the future and it’s good to see the improvement.”
Chelsea are currently third in the Premier League, but fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur are just a point behind Benitez’s side.
