Man City boss Mancini hits out at Pellegrini speculation

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has lashed out at journalists who questioned him about his future at the Etihad Stadium, according to Sky Sports.

The Italian manager’s future as City boss has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with the club’s failure to qualify for the latter stages of the Champions League and stuttering pursuit of Manchester United in the Premier League sparking rumours he could be asked to vacate his post at the end of the season.

But Mancini hit out at whispers that he could be replaced by Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini, insisting he cannot understand why the club’s owners should have cause for concern.

Mancini said: “I cannot continue to answer questions about this every week. We have another two months and in two months you will know if this can happen but I can’t continue with this.

This is normal for you, it’s your job, don’t worry, but I can’t continue to answer each week about one manager or another or another.

Manchester City are 12 points behind Manchester United in the Premier League, with 12 games still to play.

The Citizens host third-placed Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.
