Three Premier League clubs – Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea – and Real Madrid are chasing Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini with a view to a summer move, the
Fellaini is understood to want to play in the Champions League and if Everton cannot over participation in the competition next season, the Belgium international could look to move to a club who can. Both Manchester clubs and Madrid are all-but-certain to be playing in the tournament next season, while Chelsea are currently fourth in the league, the last position that can offer Champions League football.
Everton may look to cash in on the in-demand Fellaini in the manner they did Jack Rodwell last summer, and Mikel Arteta and Joleon Lescott in years before to ease the financial strain on the club. A £24m buyout clause in Fellaini’s contract was rumoured but has been denied by the club, the newspaper adds.
Fellaini has been at Goodison Park since 2008 and, at £15m, is Everton’s record signing. Bought from Standard Liege, Fellaini was signed as a holding midfielder but has enjoyed most of his success playing further forward, scoring 31 goals for the Toffees.
