Wilshere to be fit for Arsenal Champions League tie with Bayern Munich

Jack Wilshere is expected to recover from a thigh injury in time to play a part in Arsenal’s Champions League meeting with Bayern Munich next week, the Guardian has reported.

Wilshere was withdrawn early in the second-half of the Gunners’ 1-0 win away at Sunderland on Saturday having collided with Black Cats midfielder Alfred N’Diaye. The newspaper adds that Wilshere left the Stadium of Light limping heavily and with his thigh bandaged, having made worse a problem that initially occurred in the first-half of the match.

However, the injury is not thought to be a serious one and although Wilshere may play no part in Arsenal’s FA Cup match with Blackburn Rovers at the weekend, he should be ready to face Bayern on Tuesday.

Wilshere has previously spent almost 18 months on the sidelines because of a succession of injuries, finally making his return to the Arsenal first team last autumn, featuring on a regular basis since and returning to the England set-up as well.

The midfielder is not Arsenal’s only injury concern, however, as manager Arsene Wenger is also waiting for news regarding the fitness of Thomas Vermaelen, who missed the Sunderland game with an ankle injury, and Laurent Koscielny, who hurt his calf during the warm up prior to kick-off at Sunderland and also missed the match.
