Sir Alex Ferguson has declared his shock at Manchester United’s huge lead at the summit of the Premier League, according to ESPN.

And Ferguson admits that he was expecting more of a close-run race in this campaign – with United requiring only 13 points, at most, from their remaining games to secure a 20th top division championship.
Speaking to the SiriusXM radio station, Ferguson said: “I expected it to be really tight. The first point was that, after last season, we wanted to make sure we didn’t lose it on goal difference, and that has improved markedly.
“But I never thought we would be 15 points clear at this stage of the season.”
United’s win over Reading in the last round of Premier League matches, combined with City’s defeat at Everton, stretched United’s lead to 15 points, with just nine games of the season remaining.
Ferguson’s side travel to Sunderland on Saturday while Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City host Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium.
