Jovetic warned against Arsenal move

Stevan Jovetic has been told by his Fiorentina teammate Luca Toni to forget about moving to Arsenal and set his sights higher up the Premier League table, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Jovetic has been mentioned as a summer target for the Gunners and recently confirmed he would be interested in the switch, but Toni, a World Cup winner with Italy in 2006, believes Jovetic is selling himself short – and may even be best served remaining with his current employers.

I tell him to think carefully before leaving Florence, as there is an important project here,” Toni said, adding: “If he has to leave, then make it for a real top club. Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United fit that bill, but Arsenal are not better than Fiorentina.

Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League, five points behind Chelsea, nine short of City and 24 behind league leaders United. Fiorentina, meanwhile, are fourth in Serie A, with only the top three teams qualifying for next season’s Champions League. Il Viola are three points behind Milan, who hold the final place in the competition, five off second-placed Napoli and 14 behind league leaders Juventus.
