Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert may be struggling at the bottom of the Premier League with the Villans, but he is excitedly looking to next season’s Bundesliga battle between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
This season, Bayern are the runaway leaders at the top of the table, 17 points ahead of Dortmund and 30 goals ahead on goal difference. Dortmund are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and Bayern look set to join them, if they can avoid an upset at home to Arsenal in the second leg of their second round tie. Both sides could face each other in the quarter-finals with Bayern looking to avenge their Champions League final loss to Chelsea last season.

Lambert said: “Jurgen was on the same coaching course as me and you can see what a transformation he has made at Dortmund. He has been a revelation for the team and for the crowd who have bought into the way he manages. Similarly, Bayern Munich are running away with the league. When Pep Guardiola joins them in the summer, that will really enhance them further and Dortmund will have to match that.”
