Liverpool ready to move for Ajax star Eriksen

Liverpool are preparing a bid for Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen, the Daily Mirror has reported, after Brendan Rodgers sent scouts to watch the Denmark international during his country’s recent matches.

The Reds are said to be hopeful that Eriksen’s links with compatriot Daniel Agger and former Ajax teammate Luis Suarez help push the 21-year-old towards Anfield. Eriksen lined up for Denmark against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria in the past week and is said to have again impressed the representatives from the Merseyside club.

Eriksen has stalled on signing a new deal with Ajax and with only a year remaining on his current deal this summer, could be on the move with the Amsterdam side forced to cash in on their prized asset.

Rodgers will face competition from across Europe for Eriksen, if he is to be on the move at the end of the season, but is understood to be optimistic that the presence of two players Eriksen already knows well can help pull him to the club.

Agger is the current captain of Denmark – Eriksen has 34 caps for his country – while Suarez was part of the Ajax side when Eriksen established himself at the club, with the Uruguayan captaining the side prior to his move to the Premier League.
