Man Utd discuss Nike sponsored Ronaldo move

After watching their former hero knock them out of the Champions League, Manchester United are plotting a mega move to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, The Sun reports.

United believe an Old Trafford return would cost at least 75 million euros and Ronaldo’s return could inspire Wayne Rooney, who Sir Alex Ferguson insists will be a Manchester United player next season. According to the Sun, Nike representatives have flown into London to discuss a renewal of their sponsorship agreement with United and the potential chance of helping with Ronaldo’s move back to Old Trafford.

Nike sponsor Ronaldo with boots and sportswear, but are desperate to get the Portuguese international back into a United shirt for the Nike sponsorship deal that comes with the match kit. United would have to put together an attractive package for Madrid to part with their star, but Nike are keen to help in whichever way they can. The American conglomerate currently has a shirt deal worth 350 million euros that runs out in 2015 with the Premier League leaders and are ready to renegotiate that contract.

United may ask for double or treble that figure for their next deal and Nike could accept, so that United have the cash this summer to make a massive swoop for the 28 year old. Ronaldo was bowled over by the reception he received at Old Trafford on Tuesday night in the Champions League and could snub a monstrous wage deal from Paris Saint Germain to return to Manchester.
