Tony Pulis is considering ending his tenure at Stoke City at the end of the season, the Daily Mail has reported, after coming in for criticism from fans at the club’s style of play as well as growing concerned over a lack of transfer funds made available by the chairman, Peter Coates.
Coates is said to favour investing in the club’s youth academy to produce more of Stoke’s own players but Pulis does not want to miss out on his preferred targets, with the Mail claiming the Potters were close to the signing of Moussa Sissoko before Newcastle intervened.
Stoke have won only one of their last 11 Premier League games and currently sit 11th in the table, seven points clear of 18th-placed Wigan Athletic. Pulis took Stoke into the top flight for the first time since 1985 when promotion to the Premier League was clinched at the end of the 2007/08 season, and led Stoke to the FA Cup final in 2011, where they were beaten by Manchester City.
