Tottenham midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson insists that his decision to join Spurs ahead of Liverpool has been proven this season, The
The Icelandic international opted for a new challenge at White Hart Lane, instead of following former Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers at Anfield last summer. Sigurdsson has begun to embed himself in the Spurs line-up after a slow start and his goal in midweek against Inter helped Spurs to a commanding 3-0 lead ahead of the second leg in Milan in the Europa League last 16. Spurs are chasing a top four place and are in a commanding position, whereas Liverpool are out of Europe and sit seventh looking to sneak into the top six.
Sigurdsson is happy with his choice and is ready for a gripping end-of-season with the North London side, stating that the ambition of Spurs was something he could not refuse, as hard as it was to say no to former boss Rodgers.
“It was clear this (Tottenham) was the club I wanted to be at. If you look at the players here, they are unbelievable. Gareth Bale is one of the best players in the world at the moment and the squad is fantastic. They show I made the right choice”, The 23 year old admitted, ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash between Liverpool and Spurs at Anfield.
