Arsenal may be lining up a surprise summer swoop for Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas, according to the
The Real Madrid stopper has become synonymous with the European giants ever since making his debut for the club 14 years ago, appearing well over 600 times for Los Blancos.
However this season has been more frustrating for the 31-year-old, who has suffered from injuries and been dropped by current boss Jose Mourinho – sparking rumours about a possible move away from Santiago Bernabeu.
In an interview last week, Casillas appeared to hint that he may be on his way, and said: “I want the fans to remember me as a player who wore the Real shirt with pride.”
The 143-times capped goalkeeper is under contract in the Spanish capital until 2015 but reports seem to suggest that Casillas could be available for as little as £17million at the end of the season.
That price could tempt Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who has dropped regular number one Wojciech Szczesny this season due to poor form.
