Interim Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez believes it is inevitable he will return to Liverpool one day, ESPN
Benitez, appointed at Stamford Bridge in November 2012 to replace Roberto Di Matteo on a contract until the end of the season, spent six years at Anfield, moving to Merseyside from Valencia in 2004 and departing in 2010. He has since managed Serie A giants Inter before landing a return to the Premier League when Di Matteo was sacked.
With his family still based in the North West, Benitez expects to one day be employed by the Reds, although he did not put a time scale on his thoughts and has been linked with replacing Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid this summer – having previously succeeded the Portuguese at Inter.
Benitez has also suggested his next post after leaving Chelsea this summer could be in England, stressing he saw no reason why he could not manage a third Premier League club.
