The newspaper quotes a German publication, Bild, in describing the chances of Mourinho returning to Stamford Bridge as “almost certain”. Bild is the same publication that this week revealed the news of Mario Gotze’s move from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich, a transfer that was later confirmed by both clubs.
Mourinho will be joined by Radamel Falcao, Bild adds, with the Colombian a £51m welcome back present from owner Roman Abramovich to the Portuguese, currently in charge at Real Madrid, but previously the Chelsea manager between the summer of 2004 and the start of the 2007/08 season. Mourinho left Chelsea after claiming the Premier League title twice in his three full seasons at the club.
Since vacating his position in west London, Mourinho has led Italian side Inter to the Champions League and broke Barcelona’s dominance of La Liga, winning the title last season. This season, however, has seen the Catalans return to the Spanish summit while Mourinho has been at odds with influential figures at the Santiago Bernabeu.
