Chelsea defender David Luiz was left fuming after the club’s FA Cup exit to Man City, after City striker Sergio Aguero lunged in with a two footed challenge on the Brazilian. Luiz has demanded an apology from the Argentinian, reports The
Aguero appeared to consider himself to have been elbowed by Luiz, and launched an horrific challenge on the 25-year-old.
The Blues star insists that he would apologised had he conducted himself in a similar manner, also citing his belief that the incident gave a bad example to any kids watching the game.
He said: “I would apologise to everyone. Aguero is a great player and I think he needs to be honest with himself and say: ‘I don’t like to do bad tackles, I don’t like to do that.’.
“I forgive everyone in my life, people are happy when Aguero is scoring goals, doing things in the game. Many people have said to me: ‘sorry this is not me and not good for the football.’ Many kids see the game, watch the game and want to see good things and not bad things.”
The incident did not prove the only bout of controversy from the hard-hitting semi-final, as Blues boss Rafael Benitez believes his side should have been awarded a late penalty after Fernando Torres was felled.
He said: “We were disappointed not to score a goal, and with the penalty not given – it was very clear and it was disappointing.”
The result sets up next month’s FA Cup final, with Man City taking on Premier League strugglers Wigan at Wembley.
