Man City could be lining up a sensational move to tempt Brendan Rodgers away from Liverpool if Roberto Mancini departs in the summer.
That’s according to The
The Liverpool boss meets much of the criteria that City are keen on. For example, he is a relatively young manager, has shown a keen enthusiasm in bringing young players through the system and giving them first team experience, has European experience and also possesses good media skills.
The article also states that the real ace up his sleeve is that he is also a fluent speaker in both his native English as well as Spanish.
It was reported earlier this month that Mancini’s future is still a talking point among the corridors of power at the Etihad Stadium, and it is believed he could face the sack even if the Blues are successful in their FA Cup bid when they face Wigan in the final next month.
Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez has also been suggested as a potential replacement for Mancini, and sources close to the Spaniard have said that he is desperate for the job.
Rodgers, however, is still thought to now be among City officials’ first choice for the job, and while he would certainly cost the club compensation if he were to leave Liverpool owing to his contract at the club still having two years to run after this season, it is not thought that this would make City baulk.
