West Brom boss Steve Clarke has rubbished speculation over a rumoured agreement between Chelsea and Swansea City for Belgian ace Romelu Lukaku, understands Eurosport.
It is anticipated the Blues would like the 19-year-old back on the roster next season, but Swansea’s campaign in Europe, due to their League Cup success in February, might tempt the Londoners to do business with one of West Brom’s mid-table rivals.
Ahead of Saturday’s academic clash with Newcastle United, Clarke said: “There’s nothing in it. read in the press he’s going to Swansea – but I would be very surprised if he ends up there.”
West Brom were as high as third in late November, and although consistency has eluded them since, Clarke’s men still sit in a strong eighth place ahead of the Magpies visit to the Hawthorns this weekend.
