Radamel Falcao has dismissed rumours linking him with a summer move to Manchester United, insisting his attention remains firmly on helping current club Atletico Madrid finish the season strongly, Sky
Falcao has seen both his value and his reputation soar in recent years following his emergence as one of the world’s most clinical finishers. The Colombian, who has netted 24 goals in La Liga alone this year for Atletico, has been linked with European heavyweights such as Chelsea and Real Madrid, but in recent weeks reports suggested that United had stolen a march in the race for his signature.
However, Falcao has moved to distance himself from the speculation. Speaking on Colombian radio station RCN, Falcao stated: “In recent weeks I have tried to isolate myself and not think about the rumours about my future.
“I do not really know where that information has come from (joining Manchester United), that is part of the press. I’m focused only on Atletico Madrid. I do not let the market rumours affect my performance.”
Sir Alex Ferguson has also responded to the rumours by denying that any approach has been made for the striker on the official United website.
However, with Sky Sports also reporting that Atletico manager Diego Simeone is unsure as to what the future holds for his star man, speculation surrounding the player will continue.
