Manchester City vice-captain Pablo Zabaleta has spoken to Sky
City have lost only one more game in the league than their neighbours, but have drawn eight times compared to United’s three and the Argentine defender declared that his side’s inconsistency was what ultimately cost them in the title race.
Zabaleta has been an ever present in City’s line up this year, earning praise for his individual performances, and while he understood that a club the size of Manchester City have to be winning trophies, he did have the good grace to admit that Man United were worthy champions.
“ Manchester City it is important to keep winning trophies every year,” he said.
“i>We know how difficult it is in the Premier League and also Europe you play against big teams and this season we have been inconsistent and that cost us the title. United have been more consistent. They have been better and kept winning and they deserved the title.
“We just need to keep working and be positive because if you look at the team we have fantastic players and want to bring more success.”
Despite the failure to regain the title, City do still have the chance to finish the season with some silverware as they play Wigan in the FA Cup final next month.
