Manchester United defender Phil Jones says he aims to score more goals for the club, according to Sky
The England international missed two glaring opportunities for United against Arsenal on Sunday, and found the net just twice in 107 matches for previous club Blackburn Rovers.
But the 21-year-old is keen to improve on the goal scoring side of his game as he enjoys an extended run in Sir Alex Ferguson’s starting XI.
Jones said: “The first one [chance against Arsenal] was easier, I think I should have put that one away. The second chance was a bit more difficult.
“If it had been in the air for a couple more seconds, I might have got on the end of it with a cleaner connection. Scoring is probably something I need to work on. Hopefully I’ll get one before the end of the season.”
Jones has made just 14 Premier League appearances for newly-crowned champions United this season after a campaign which has been blighted by injury.
He is likely to keep his place in the starting line-up as the Red Devils host Chelsea on Sunday.
