Robert Lewandowski is believed to be keen on securing a transfer to Premier League champions-elect Man United as opposed to staying in the Bundesliga and moving to Bayern Munich, reports The
The 24-year-old will wait to see what happens regarding the futures of Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez at Old Trafford before making his decision, but it is thought that he privately favours a move to the Red Devils.
Sir Alex Ferguson has previously stated his belief that Bayern were in the strongest position to sign the Polish international, but Lewandowski had wanted to move to the club when United made a bid last summer, though the offer was rejected by Borussia Dortmund.
The player’s camp has been made aware of United’s interest, but Bayern have no obstacles barring their path to securing his services, while Man United may well be forced to create space in the squad for the much sought-after striker.
With Rooney’s future at the club seemingly in doubt, it has been speculated that Ferguson could seek to offload the striker and potentially replace him with the Dortmund star.
There is also the possibility that while Ferguson is a big fan of Hernandez, the player is believed to find the lack of first team opportunities frustrating and may seek a move elsewhere, again potentially creating space in the squad for Lewandowski.
