Lukaku willing to leave Chelsea on loan again next season

Romelu Lukaku is open to another temporary move away from Chelsea next season, the Daily Mail has reported, but the Belgium international could turn down the chance to stay at West Bromwich Albion if a club competing in Europe makes an approach.

The 19-year-old joined the Baggies on a season-long loan deal last summer and has impressed, scoring 13 goals in 31 games under former Chelsea player and assistant manager Steve Clarke. He netted on his debut against Liverpool in a 3-0 win at the Hawthorns.

But Lukaku is keen to safeguard his international future and faces competition for a place in the Belgium starting XI from Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke, who has won similar plaudits since moving to the Midlands.

Lukaku is said by the Mail to feel the need to prove himself in the Champions League and, if he cannot do so at Chelsea, will take the opportunity to do so elsewhere, should it materialise.

West Brom are on course to finish in the top half of the Premier League, currently sitting eighth, and while Lukaku has previously said he would return to West Brom for another year if Chelsea sanctioned the deal, it is claimed in the Belgian media that he is on the lookout for a chance to play in Europe next season.
