Manchester City playmaker David Silva has echoed manager Roberto Mancini’s belief that the club can regain the Premier League title next season, according to the
Silva’s claim comes after he helped City beat rivals and runaway league leaders Manchester United on their own patch on Monday night, reducing the gap between the two clubs to 12 points.
And the Spanish midfielder believes that the victory over United can help attract new players to the Etihad Stadium in the summer ahead of a fresh title push next season.
Silva said: “I’m confident we can win the title again next year. I feel we’re growing every year as a club. You can see with the players signing new contracts that we are growing and making a better team every year.
“Hopefully anyone that comes in this summer will help the team and help us even better for next season. To achieve that next year [winning the title] we have to follow the line that we showed against United.”
City have already started working on their squad for next year, signing midfield powerhouse Yaya Toure to a new long-term contract last week.
It is expected that fringe players such as Scott Sinclair, Maicon and Aleksandar Kolarov will leave in the summer, freeing up wage space to allow Mancini to draft new faces to the club.
