Ravel Morrison – the former Manchester United starlet rated as one of the best young players he has ever seen by Sir Alex Ferguson – has caught the eye of Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini and the Premier League champions have made enquiries about signing the midfielder, according to the
Morrison left Old Trafford after declining a new contract, moving to West Ham in search of regular first team football but fell afoul of Hammers boss Sam Allardyce with only one substitute appearance to his name with the London club.
The 20-year-old then moved on loan to Birmingham City, where he has thrived under Lee Clarke, entering performances that have led to City running the rule over the midfielder. City have made a habit of signing young, English players – buying Jack Rodwell from Everton and Scott Sinclair from Swansea City last summer – and Morrison could be the latest.
He is not expected to be part of Allardyce’s future plans, the Mirror adds, with a sale or loan move likely this summer. A former target for Arsenal and Newcastle, Morrison made only three substitute appearances in his United career.
