Sheffield United caretaker manager Chris Morgan says that he is not too downbeat by the Blades’ recent poor run of form heading into the League One play-offs, according to the Football
United went down 1-0 at Crewe Alexandra last night after Chuks Aneke’s superb volley from outside the box meant the Blades missed a chance to go fifth. The loss means the Blades have only won one game out of four since sacking manager Danny Wilson outings, and in total have only two wins from their last 10 outings.
The South Yorkshire club have already secured themselves a play-off place in League One, although the slump in form saw their chances of automatic promotion disappear. However, the Blades now look destined for a fifth or sixth finish and to be at home for the first-leg of their play-off semi-final.
Morgan however, is not overly concerned about the team’s promotion prospects. He said: “It’s not ideal going into the play-offs in this form but we have an honest set of players who work hard for each other. We’ve got to get ready for three massive play-off games but confidence is good even if the lads are feeling very frustrated.”
Sheffield United will complete their regular league campaign against Preston North End at Bramall Lane on Saturday.
