Jose Mourinho has urged Chelsea to confirm his return as manager or risk missing out on getting him back, reports The
The Real Madrid coach has long been rumoured to be the Blues’ next boss when interim coach Rafael Benitez leaves Stamford Bridge in the summer, but Man City, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan are all monitoring his situation.
A source reportedly told The Sun: “Jose wants to go back to Chelsea. It’s where he wants to be. Every time Chelsea fans sing his name it makes him want to go back even more.
“He’ll sign for the same money he’s on at Real, even though he’s sure he could earn more elsewhere — like City or PSG. Jose could even remain at Madrid but he is clear about where he’d like to go — it’s now down to if Roman Abramovich wants the same.”
Mourinho won six trophies in three years during his Chelsea reign between 2004 and 2007, but was unable to clinch a Champions League crown.
The club have since earned that achievement under Roberto di Matteo last season, and Mourinho hopes to be the manager to claim the title this year with his Real Madrid side now all but sure of a place in the semi-finals following their impressive 3-0 win over Galatasaray last week.
With the Blues still in the hunt for FA Cup and Europa League glory, boss Benitez could still make his mark on his time at the Stamford Bridge helm, but his departure at the end of the season has already been confirmed by the Spaniard himself after failing to connect with the Chelsea faithful since arriving in November.
