Szczesny likely to return for Arsenal against Everton

Wojciech Szczesny could get the chance to reclaim his place as Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper against Everton as Lukasz Fabianksi, who has started each of the Gunners’ last five games, is set to miss out with a rib injury, the Daily Mail has reported.

Arsenal have won their last five with Fabianski in goal but the Pole suffered an injury against Norwich City, potentially opening the door for his compatriot Szczesny to return. Arsenal have conceded three goals in the five games where Fabianski has worn the gloves, recording clean sheets against Bayern Munich and Swansea City, and conceding a single goal against Reading, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City.

Arsene Wenger could have Tomas Rosicky back in his squad for the game against Arsenal’s Champions League rivals, while Per Mertesacker is available again after missing the 3-1 win over Norwich through suspension.

Meanwhile, Jack Wilshere could be rested after returning from a six-week lay-off against the Canaries, playing an hour of Saturday’s victory.
