Manchester United could be without Ashley Young when they travel to Stoke City this weekend, Sky
Young was hurt in a challenge with Pablo Zabaleta in the second-half of the 2-1 loss and had to be replaced by Shinji Kagawa. The injury is not said to be serious but manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes it is unlikely the former Aston Villa player will recover in time to face the Potters.
“We’ve got six days until the Stoke game and, obviously, Ashley may be out,” Ferguson said. “It may not be serious but I think he’ll miss Sunday’s game.”
United’s defeat to City reduced their lead at the top of the Premier League to 12 points, with seven games to play. City took the lead in the second-half through James Milner but United equalised shortly after when Vincent Kompany turned a Robin van Persie free-kick into his own net, but Sergio Aguero put City back in front late on.
Ferguson also has injury concerns in defence, having to contend with loss of Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans against City, with Ferguson stressing the importance of having his aerially-strong players back when United play Tony Pulis’ imposing Stoke.
