Aguero extends Man City contract despite Real interest

Following previous reports that Sergio Aguero was happy to reassure Man City fans that he did not want to leave the Blues, Sky Sports understands that the Argentinian has signed a one-year contract extension at the club.

The deal extends Aguero’s stay at City until 2017, easing the worry that the player could be set to move back to Spain, with Real Madrid reportedly interested.

In a statement on the club’s official website, Aguero said: “I’m very happy at City and I feel very appreciated. It’s been barely two years since I’ve arrived and sometimes I feel like I’ve been here for all my life.

“I have a fantastic relationship with the fans, and that always reminds me of our title and that goal against QPR. I can never forget that moment. Now I am looking forward to next season and pushing hard to win the title again.”

Aguero has scored 47 goals from 69 starts from City, and is indeed a popular figure with the club’s fans.

He joined the club from Atletico Madrid in 2011, and the transfer cost City a club-record £38m to complete.
