Alonso rules out exit despite Chelsea link

Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has rubbished rumours that he will leave the club this summer, says The Independent.

The Spanish playmaker has been linked with a move to Chelsea, should current Real boss Jose Mourinho also make the switch to Stamford Bridge, as widely anticipated.

But Alonso has played down speculation over his future by insisting he will still be at the Santiago Bernabeu next season.

Being quoted in Spanish publication Marca, Alonso said: “Of course I’m going to be here next season.

The news is likely to put an end to rumours regarding a return to the Premier League, where Alonso spent five years at Liverpool under Rafa Benitez.

He now seems set to add to his four years at Los Merengues, where he has won three trophies since signing for the Spanish giants in 2009.

Real Madrid kept their rivals Barcelona waiting to be confirmed as La Liga champions after beating Malaga 6-2 on Wednesday evening.
