Real Madrid have offered Arsenal a price of £22m for the services of Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to the Daily
The 25-year-old striker has fallen out of favour at the Bernabeu after seven seasons with the club and the Spanish giants have made his availability known to leading clubs throughout Europe.
Arsene Wenger is understood to have made enquiries over the Argentina international, with the club offering an initial value of £18m for the striker who has found the net 15 times for Real this season. The Gunners are keen to sharpen their strike force ahead of next season having already made contact with Fiorentina over Stefan Jovetic, but are in a race with Juventus to secure that deal.
Higuain was offered a Premier League contract last season but Manchester City were unsuccessful in bringing him to England, although his representatives are open to a move to England.
However, it is imperative for the Gunners to finish this season in the Champions League places to have a chance of securing Higuain’s signature. Arsenal are in fourth, one point ahead of rivals Tottenham going into the final weekend of the season.
