An Arsenal return is possible for Mexican striker Carlos Vela, despite his preference being to stay with Real Sociedad.
Reported by London
He has scored 13 times this season, one more goal than what he achieved on a year-long loan deal last term.
However, the top scorer at the 2005 FIFA Under-17 World Championship has a clause in his contract that would allow the north Londoners to buy him back.
He told L’Equipe: “Going back to Arsenal? It could happen at any moment, but I don’t want to think about it.
“My life is at Real Sociedad, and it is with that shirt that I want to play in the Champions League next season.”
Vela spent six years at the Emirates Stadium, but failed to establish himself and made just 62 appearances in the senior side. His tally of three goals was a fairly sobering statistic.
There were loan deals with Salamanca, West Brom and Osasuna, but his goals have helped Sociedad to be in pole position to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2003.
With five games left, the club are five points clear of Malaga and Valencia.
