Chelsea will look to confirm their place in next season’s Champions League by getting all three points when they visit Aston Villa today.
The Blues currently sit in third position, but only three points clear of Wednesday night’s opponents Tottenham in fifth – a win today would all but confirm their position in the top four, and would see manager Rafa Benitez achieve the goal that was requested of him.
Villa meanwhile are five points clear of the relegation zone following two consecutive league wins, and a point would be enough to see the midlands club in the Premier League again next season.
For Chelsea Demba Ba is set to come back into the starting line-up, after Fernando Torres played in the midweek 2-2 draw with Spurs. Frank Lampard and John Terry are also set to come back into the side, as Benitez’s rotation policy continues. Eden Hazard is struggling with a calf injury, which may mean Victor Moses comes back into the side.
Aston Villa start with the same forward three, Andreas Weimann, Christian Benteke and Gaby Agbonlahor, who have helped the side to eight goals in their last two outings. Matt Lowton at right-back is the only new injury doubt for manager Paul Lambert.
