Bayern vs Dortmund – Champions League Trivia

Wembley plays host to the first all-German Champions League Final on 25th May, when Bayern Munich do battle against Bundesliga compatriots Borussia Dortmund.

The two sides, who will finish the current domestic season as champions and runners-up respectively, have attracted plaudits from around Europe for their impressive displays in the tournament this season.

Dortmund were able to see off the challenge of Spaniards Real Madrid emphatically, while Bayern defeated Catalan club Barcelona 3-0 in Spain to round off a thrilling set of semi-final games, and to ensure the historic encounter at Wembley.

The game will also mark Jupp Heynckes’ final match in charge of Bayern before handing over to former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola in the summer. Heynckes is set to retire from football management after the game.

It is Wembley’s second Champions League Final in three years, with the 2011 match taking place in the English capital. On that night, Barcelona defeated Man United 3-1 to win the crown.
