Chelsea set to miss out on Monaco-bound Falcao

Chelsea transfer target Radamel Falcao looks set for Monaco after the French club’s goalkeeper Danijel Subasic said the deal was ‘90% done’, reports the Daily Mirror.

The prolific Atletico Madrid frontman has been heavily linked with the Blues, who are believed to have positioned the Colombian as their number one priority for the summer.

But Subasic says moneybags Monaco, who won promotion back to Ligue Un this season, are confident of snapping up Falcao ahead of both Roman Abramovich’s side and Real Madrid.

Subasic said: “I’ll tell you what I heard: Falcao is already 90 per cent Monegasque! He will appear in Monte Carlo in a few days and officially become our player.

That’s what they told us, with the only doubt being that he could sign for Real Madrid, which at the moment does not look likely. If he does not go to the Bernabeu, he will come to us in the principality.

The Red and Whites, who are managed by Claudio Ranieri, are backed by Russian billionaire owner Dmitry Rybolovlev, who has made no secret of his intention to splash out on new players this summer.

Earlier this month, Rybolovlev announced plans to invest over 100 million euros in the squad ahead of the next campaign, in an attempt to challenge Ligue Un’s biggest sides.

Falcao has been in devastating form for Atletico this season, having scored 28 goals in La Liga.
