Chelsea silent on Terry and Hazard injuries ahead of Europa League final

Chelsea have so far refused to comment on the chances of John Terry and Eden Hazard being fit for the Europa League final, the Daily Mail has reported, in an effort to keep opponents Benfica guessing as to the line-up to be selected by Rafael Benitez.

Both Terry and Hazard suffered injuries in Chelsea’s weekend win over Aston Villa, a match that left the Blues in a strong position to qualify for next season’s Champions League, with Terry stretchered off after an ankle injury and Hazard suffering what appeared to be a hamstring strain. The Belgium international has also recently struggled with a problem with his calf.

Benitez could provide more information on the respective statuses of the captain and playmaker in his pre-match press conference, to take place on Tuesday, ahead of Wednesday’s final at Ajax’s Amsterdam Arena.

However, the Mail claims Benitez could choose to deflect questions on the injuries in an attempt to confuse Benfica’s preparations for the match, which is to be refereed by Dutchman Bjorn Kuipers.
