Fulham ready to land Boateng

Martin Jol is ready to shake up his Fulham squad, and looks set to make his first move in the transfer market. The Independent understands that will be for Dnipro midfielder Derek Boateng.

The Ghanaian midfielder has been a long-term target for Jol, but contract disputes between the west Londoners and the Ukrainian side have got in the way of a transfer taking place. However, a deal is close to being finalised between the two clubs for the 30-year-old, who moved to Dnipro in 2011 from Getafe.

Boateng has been well-travelled throughout his career, with stints in Greece with Panathinaikos, Germany with Cologne and even Israel with Beitar Jerusalem in his previous club history.

With seven players out of contract at Craven Cottage, including Mark Schwarzer and Chris Baird, plus speculation over the futures of John Arne Riise and Damien Duff, there is likely to be plenty of changes in the summer for the Cottagers.

Sascha Riether has already completed a permanent transfer from Cologne after a successful loan spell this season.
