Jose Enrique’s future at Liverpool has had a shadow of doubt cast with reports that the Anfield outfit are looking at 19-year-old left back Lucas Digne, according to The
Digne is considered one of the hottest properties in Ligue 1, where he plies his trade for Lille, and manager Brendan Rodgers believes the capture could prove one of Liverpool’s key pieces of business in the transfer market this summer.
Rodgers is believed to be wanting to shake up his defence, and has cast his eye over several players from across the continent.
His belief in young players has been evident since his arrival at the club last summer, and while he has high hopes for the youth system in place at Anfield he is still looking for younger players who can be put straight into the first team in an effort to establish stability, and Digne ticks all the boxes.
The defender has been linked with various top clubs including both Manchester clubs, Ajax and Udinese, but is under contract until 2016.
This could push his asking price up to around the £8m mark, but Liverpool are thought to be keen to get the deal done quickly once the current season ends.
