Chelsea defender David Luiz would be happy to see Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney sign in at Stamford Bridge after it was confirmed by Sir Alex Ferguson that the England international wants to leave Old Trafford, Sky
Ferguson added that Rooney’s transfer request was rejected but it remains to be seen how the change in manager affects Rooney’s future, with his former Everton boss David Moyes taking over from the retiring Ferguson this summer.
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, the champions of Germany and France respectively, have been linked with moves for Rooney, but Luiz feels he would also be a good addition to the squad at Chelsea. “Everyone knows about his quality, so if he wants to come to Chelsea why not? I’d be happy with it,” the Brazil international said.
Rooney moved to United from Everton in the summer of 2004, having broken in to the Toffees team under Moyes two years earlier. It was suggested by Ferguson that Rooney has grown unhappy with his role at United, particularly at being substituted early in games as Ferguson has often done in recent weeks.
