Malouda expresses relief at Stamford Bridge departure

Florent Malouda voiced his delight at having fulfilled his final commitments to Chelsea before his contract expires next month, according to The Sun.

Malouda has not featured for the Blues at all this season, and was forced to train with the U-21 squad.

However, with Chelsea’s games now out of the way, Malouda is to all intents and purposes a free agent as he counts down the days until his contract expires and he is officially a former Chelsea player.

Former club Lyon are keen to bring the France international back. The 32-year-old left Lyon in order to join Chelsea in 2007, and could be set to reinvigorate his career back at Stade de Gerland.

He said: “I had a problem to sort out with certain people. It’s done. Now, I’m free. I’m going to be able to play again next season and I cannot wait.

“I’ve been preparing all year long. I’ll be back next season.”
